16 Lessons Learned After 16 Years of Business

Posted on

16 years ago today I was making a bar of soap for the first time. Never realizing what it would lead too. It has not been all sunshine and roses though so I wanted to share what I have learned.

  1. It always comes down to relationships
  2. Surround yourself with people who are smart
  3. Sometimes you have to end a relationship, end it with dignity and keep their name safe
  4. Step away from dreaming and take action
  5. Some people will not understand your dream. They think it will diminish their dream. Determine how often you hang out with that kind of person
  6. Focus on the things you do best and hire out everything else
  7. Always be open to learning
  8. Create systems and write them down.
  9. Know your numbers, repeat. Know your numbers.
  10. Celebrate every step of growth no matter how small
  11. Keep writing thank you notes no matter how busy you are
  12. Ask better questions
  13. Stop comparing yourself to others, run your own race
  14. Kindness counts
  15. It never happens as fast as you think it will, don’t stop five minutes before your miracle happens
  16. Don’t let it consume you, take a break and live a life filled with deep connection. Those are the moments that will bring the greatest insight to tap you into your inspiration to make the world a better place
