Recipe: Morgan's Famous Rib Rub
Grilling ribs is a summer staple in our home, and Morgan’s rib rub has become a go-to recipe we reach for again and again. It’s simple and flavorful, and when paired with our Good Life Olive Oil, it’s a combination that supports both taste and wellness.
When we’re feeding a crowd, or just making a quiet dinner at home, this rib rub is a hit. The balanced sweetness with just the right kick of heat makes it perfect for everyone at the table. And using Good Life Olive Oil as the binder? That’s where the flavor and health benefits really shine.
Why Your Olive Oil Matters
Good Life Olive Oil isn’t just another bottle on the shelf; it’s the result of thoughtful, sustainable farming and generations of care. The olives are grown on historic Mission-variety trees, some over 100 years old. These trees aren’t crowded. They’re spaced intentionally to allow deep root systems, full sun access, and nutrient-dense fruit.
The farm follows permaculture principles in every step of the process. Grazing sheep roam the orchards to naturally control weeds and enrich the soil, supporting a thriving ecosystem that respects both the land and the food it produces.
And here’s the part I love: our olives are cold-pressed right on the farm, within hours of harvest. That means what you’re getting in each bottle is incredibly fresh, pure, unrefined, and packed with the kind of nutrition and flavor that only comes from doing things the right way, not the fast way.
You can taste the difference, and your body feels it, too.
Health-wise, Good Life Olive Oil offers:
-
High levels of Oleic Acid to reduce inflammation
-
Powerful antioxidants to protect your heart
-
Natural support for brain and joint health
It’s a must-have in the kitchen, whether drizzling it over a salad or rubbing it into a rack of ribs.
Morgan’s Rib Rub Recipe
Start with the binder:
4 tablespoons or so of Good Life Olive Oil
This mild, nutrient-rich oil helps the rub stick and lets the flavor of the meat shine through.
Whisk together the rub:
-
1/4 cup organic brown sugar
-
2 teaspoons sea salt
-
2 teaspoons black pepper
-
2 teaspoons paprika
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1 teaspoon ground mustard
-
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Mix well with a fork to break up any clumps.
Putting it All Together
-
Coat the ribs with Good Life Olive Oil so the rub sticks everywhere.
-
Sprinkle the rub generously over every inch.
-
For party-style ribs: Cut the ribs apart before oiling and rubbing.
-
Grill time: Place ribs directly on a pellet grill at 225°F for two hours.
-
Finish in a roasting pan: Add a cube of butter, cover with foil, and return to the grill at 225°F. Let them finish low and slow.
Barbecue Sauce? Optional.
Morgan likes serving sauce on the side. That way, everyone can choose whether to sauce it up or savor that rub just as it is.
Whether you’re feeding guests or just soaking up a quiet evening, these ribs (and that olive oil!) bring the perfect balance of nourishment and joy.
